Spreading the news about affordable modulators at ECFC 2026

At the start of June, the Right to Breathe campaign returned to the European Cystic Fibrosis Conference for the fourth year in a row to advocate for global access to lifesaving treatment. This year, we brought an exciting message about affordable CF modulator - Triko - which will soon be in the first patients' hands!

The campaign was represented by three cystic fibrosis mums - Gayle (UK), Urte (Lithuania) and Ajsela (Albania). All of them know what it takes to fight for children's access to Trikafta.

Urte’s daughter went without it in Lithuania and her health declined before she finally won access. Ajsela left Albania to try to get it for her young son. Gayle’s daughter has access, and she’s here for every family that doesn’t.

Our message was warmly received by so many attendees. A particularly powerful moment was seeing CF patient and advocate Stephan Kruip be recognised as patient advocate of the year.

Stephan has been a committed supporter of the Right to Breathe campaign for years, and he ended his brilliant acceptance speech by calling out Vertex Pharmaceuticals' unethical behaviour, and urging everyone to support our campaign and to stand together to push for equitable access to CF medicines for all.
